the human life is a strained and tense one. i envy the life of a smooth rock resting on the beach… warmed by the sun… unaware of the trials and tribulations of sentient life…
They’re both small moments, because I am at my core a people person and I love humanity more than anything on this earth:
When they were at the farm and Freddie’s writing BoRhap for the first time, and it’s just him sitting at the piano, half improvising, and he sings “Sometimes wish I’d never been born at all!!” And then he. Stops. And the raw honesty of that line is just sprawled across Rami Malek’s face. Like I felt that.
When Freddie’s walking out of the AIDS clinic/hospital and the young man sees him, and his eyes kinda widen and just impulsively goes like “AYYYYY-OO”. And Freddie stops and its dead quiet, and then finally he kinda turns his head and calls back. And the kid just smiles quietly to himself. It’s such a moment of geniune human connection between two people bound by a shared secret, and also perfectly sums up the power of representation imo
